The W Studio – An Introduction

Hello and a very warm welcome to The W Studio!

Congratulations

So who/what/where is The W Studio?

I started The W Studio to bring something a little different to the wedding world! With a strong focus on style – we design, plan and style modern, creative and distinctive weddings.  My Studio (really just a creative twist on ‘home office’!) is located in the heart of leafy Hampshire in the South of England, but I will travel all over the UK and abroad to create weddings for modern, style-conscious couples.

I didn’t fall into the wedding industry straight out of school. I also didn’t become a wedding planner because I loved planning my own wedding so much that I thought I’d be good at it! On the contrary – I’ve been round the block – had a couple of different careers, got married, moved to Australia, had a couple of children, moved back to the UK, (got divorced!)…

…and then realised that all of the skills I had obtained doing all the things I had been doing actually lent themselves perfectly to designing, planning and styling weddings!

I was the owner and manager of a beautiful destination restaurant in Perth, Australia, where we hosted some fabulous weddings and events. I absolutely LOVED this side to our business and looked forward to our weddings more than anything else. Whilst my (then) husband took care of the catering, I ran front of house and worked closely with our couples to design and create the weddings they had dreamt of.

I threw myself into the styling on the day and transformed our lovely restaurant and grounds into a multitude of different looks for very different couples. I took such joy seeing the look on the couple’s faces when they saw the transformation for the first time.  The wedding bug had firmly taken hold – but was also put on hold, as I went on to have two little Aussies before eventually selling the restaurant and returning to the UK to be closer my family.

In the UK I have indulged my passion for designing and styling by buying and developing several properties. I have always been very hands on and am often found with my sleeves rolled up, power tool in hand, doing whatever it takes to bring my visions to life. I never stop ‘doing up’ my own house and waste far too much time perusing pinterest, rightmove and interiors magazines!

I supplemented my income by working as a Private PA to some INCREDIBLE and hugely inspirational entrepreneurs. This has seen me manage a large portfolio of multi-million pound properties, stand pit side at many, many motor racing events and assist the Owner and Director of a very well-known UK retail brand, in every aspect of her life. I loved all of these roles and took huge inspiration from the people I worked for, but in the end they left me unfulfilled and with a desperate desire to get back to running my own business. So, with a huge leap of faith I quit my 9-5 and … The W Studio was born.

I couldn’t quite leave behind my obsession with everything interiors related though, so it seemed natural to include a collection of rental furniture and accessories to complement my planning and styling services. The W Collection is an ever evolving and lovingly curated collection of pieces – some of which are bought and some of which are made bespoke for the collection by my wonderful man and talented carpenter, Spooney – owner of The Little Green Barn. If you have a moment, do take the time to have a look through our collection and see if there may be anything that would suit your own wedding design. We also lend our collection (and our styling services) for interior styling so if you need a little helping hand in that department we’d be more than happy to assist.

Thank you for staying with me to the end and I hope you enjoy what my journal has to offer. There will be a lot of ‘weddingy’ stuff, but my love of interiors, travel and general lifestyle bits and pieces will also be documented along the way!
